Obesity is the biggest disease in today’s modern world; the western society is totally covered with this problem. But now days in India it is a big disease in so-called higher society. The general conception of the causes of this disease is excess intake solid food. But reality is totally different. not only the cause of excess intake of solid form besides lack of exercises, life style disorder, stress, frustration, sensory over load and spiritual unawareness. They don’t know how much their sensory need is. Even they don’t know the difference between thirst and hunger. They eat when they thirst and they drink water when they get hungry. (They eat instead of water and they drink instead meals). They don’t want to drink water, they prefer to take alcohol.
Actually senses are diverted from their genuine path. They are not governing from their inner shelf; they are governing now from outer world or objects. That’s why they (senses) are not able to decide that what they should actually do. The whole balance of glands becomes abnormal also. After all metabolisms starts weak.
Another reason is: so called higher society has another big mental virus where they don’t want to do anything. They want everything but they don’t want to do anything. They want fitness not through the help of self effort but through the money. Money’s importance, they don’t know. Because of only one thing running blindly behind the desire of unfulfilling needs.
Here I am providing you some solution which can help you to reduce excess physical and mental weight.
SHATKARMA (SIX ACTIONS)
In Hath Yoga Pradeepika, a quote says ; when fat or mucus is excessive, the shatkarma or six cleansing techniques , should be practiced before doing other exercises, by which doshas (vata ,pitta, and kapha) are balanced. This technique would be very effective in reducing weight instantly. That is why I have started
from shatkarma.
The word shatkarma” means six actions or six techniques of body purification
The goal of shatkarma is attaining physical and mental purification as well as equilibrium. These techniques are used before other yogic and breathing exercises. SHOUCHA, i.e. internal and external cleansing, is an important part in NIYAMA (step of yoga ) -. So before we practice any asana, it is necessary to clean ourselves internally.
Here i am giving you two things: enema and kapalbhanti
BASTI (ENEMA)
Enema pot , rubber tube ,nozzle, tepid water, lemon are the requirements
Mix juice of one or two lemons in tepid water. Fill the enema pot with water
Suspend enema pot one metre above .Apply a little oil or vaseline to the
nozzle of the rectal tube .Before insertion ,check the rectal tube to ensure free flow of water. Insert the tube into the rectum. The flow of water is adjusted with the knob attached to the tube. When all the water has been introduced, remove the tube and resist the pressure for a few minutes. The bowels can be emptied after a while for better cleansing. If you do not
wish to take enema in the lying position, you can take it in the standing
position.
SPECIAL NOTE:
Enema should be taken after going to toilet. Salt can be mixed in water instead of lemon juice. You can use plain water also. Soap should be mixed in water.
PRECAUTIONS:
In a healthy person, enema should be taken once in a week or in a month It can be taken for two to four times daily, in constipation.
Take rest for half an hour after enema. Do not eat anything for an hour after enema.
BENEFITS:
It removes constipation
It cleanses the bowels.
It is beneficial in all diseases of stomach.
KAPALBHATI:
Kapalbhati is a technique of pranayama that purifies the intellect. KAPAL in Sanskrit means skull and BHATI means to shine. Kapalbhati makes the skull shine. Hence, this pranayama is known as kapalbhati. This pranayama
is considered as one of the shat kriyas- six cleansing processes. It is also counted as a very important pranayama.
ACCORDING TO Hath Yog Pradeepika
Meaning: forcible expulsion of breath through the nose and its retention is Kapalbhati.
It seems that this sutra gives us many hints about kapalbhati pranayama and its technique. When we practice this pranayama with devotion and dedication, the
magnetic power of Apana Vayu starts ascending from the mid of the spinal cord towards the skull and purifies the cerebellum part of the brain .When the breath is expelled out with greater force, this purifies the cerebrum. Thus,
this pranayama is instrumental in the purification of the entire brain.
BENEFITS:
Reducing excess weight very fast
It flushes out the accumulated impure residual air in the lungs, which cannot be expelled by normal exhalation.
It purifies the nostril and respiratory system.
This pranayama has an unparallel capacity for augmenting the power of memory and thinking.
The agitated mind becomes calm and quiet with regular practice.
TECHNIQUE:
Sit in Padmasana .Place the palms on the knees. Close the eyes gently. Keep the spine and neck straight. Exhale upto the maximum capacity , then inhale
upto the throat through the nostrils and apply mool bandh .Now start expelling the breath through the nostril with force. Repeat this for a number of times. Let there be a little pause between the successive expulsions, so that breath is automatically inhaled and capacity for successive forceful expulsions is maintained.
Simultaneously, with a forceful exhalation , contract the lower abdomen towards the spine by a vigorous inward stroke or thrust of abdominal muscles. Perform this according to the capacity . After completing the last round , let there be expiration of breath to the maximum.
Practice external kumbhak along with uddiyana Bandh. and jalandhar bandh. Hold the breath as long as possible. On returning to original position, first release the uddiyana bandh, next the jalandhar bandh and there after the mool bandh. Now inhale and hold the breath for a few minutes applying bandhas and then return to position. Observe your state of mind for sometime
In the beginning have 15 expulsions and increase them gradually every week.
CAUTION:
Heart patient and those suffering from High Blood Pressure should avoid
Kapalbhati Pranayama
